In Grief (Gleision Colliery)

History repeats
Families impatient
Captured without choice
In tumult, but bound to hope
Hoping for a vein of beauty in the bleak
Hoping for courage in the grief
Caught in the moment
That says “Somewhere”
There is still hope
Waiting for the breath that speaks life
Holding out and holding up
Relying on the pride that has defined
A community without glamour
That cares
Gritty in reality
Their faces speak a determined story
Where ancestors have been before
“We will work until…
In courage and hope, keep going”
This is the strength of the great
The heritage of slate and coal
Wales is built on
History repeats in grief

Quote from the BBC website news report:  “There is a lot of emotion here, this is a passionate rescue attempt, we care about these people.”
